The new iPhone launch is likely a few weeks away, and while Apple is still holding the Apple iPhone new launch date close to its chest, we have a great idea of the time it will take place.
We revisit every new iPhone launch and new iPhone release to get the wind of when the new Apple will be revealed.
Since the arrival of iPhone 5 on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, Apple has held its new iPhone launch in the second week of September every year. Since that 2012, we have had 6 Apple iPhone new launches, 3 of which have been held on a Wednesday, with the other 3 on a Tuesday.
A look at the 2018 calendar means the week commencing September 10 looks the Apple iPhone new launch for 2018. It means the new iPhone launch should be on September 11 or September 12, but Apple might want to avoid September 11 because the US pays its respect to people that lost their lives on 9/11.
September 11 has been avoided for every iPhone launch to date, so we see no sign of any change in 2018. It means September 12 is the most likely date for the Apple iPhone new launch.
Is Monday, September 10 possible for the new iPhone launch?
It is also possible to launch the new iPhone on Monday, September 10 but we think it is unlikely to be launched on that day for a few reasons.
The first reason is that Apple has not launched a new iPhone on Monday since iPhone 4 was launched in 2010, and that was when Apple used WWDC Keynote to announce its next smartphone. So history shows Monday is not going to be the likely day for the new iPhone launch.
The second reason is that launching it on Monday means more logistics and planning over the weekend, whereas Tuesday or Monday launch allows one or two days to put everything in order ahead of the launch.
Is the week before possible for the Apple iPhone new launch?
For six years now, Apple has kept with the second week in September so there is no way it can be a week before. Monday, September 3, 2018, is the Labor Day in the US (a public holiday), so it means Tuesday 4th launch is not likely going to happen because people will be returning from a family gathering and it would be hard to gather a large number of attendees for such an important even after a long weekend.
And the fact that IFA 2018 is happening in Berlin, Germany until September 5, Apple won’t like to host its biggest event of the year clashing with another big tech event like IFA 2018.
Could it be later?
The Apple iPhone new launch has only occurred later than the second week of September once and that happened when iPhone 4 S was unveiled in October 2011. That happened because Apple was just finding its feet with a new iPhone launch schedule after changing from the WWDC event and since September was found suitable, the giant smartphone maker has glued to September.
So everything is pointing to the fact that iPhone is unlikely to launch its new iPhone later – and if it does, the result of reaction from media and the industry could be of panic – there would be questions whether there has been last-minute hitch with the new iPhone – which may not speak well of the Apple.
We are looking at 11 or 12 September for the new iPhone launch.
