Where are you Echo? Samsung has just announced its Bixby 2.0, which is an update to its voice assistant and it is moving in on Amazon Alexa’s range.
Bixby is moving from the phone, like Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8 Plus and Galaxy Note 8, to Samsung refrigerators and Samsung smart TVs, and according to Samsung, it is bringing natural language capabilities along.
Samsung’s voice assistant is set to control the expanding Samsung SmartThings device lineup, from security sensors to smoke detectors to outlets.
The goal of Samsung here is to open its Bixby 2.0 to more devices and also create a predictive personalized experience for the users. This sounds exactly like what we are currently experiencing with Amazon Alexa.
Where is that Samsung Bixby smart speaker?
We have seen Amazon expanded Alexa from Echo speakers to thermostats, air conditioner and smart locks. Today it wound up in the new Moto X phone mod.
But hey, where is the speaker that Samsung promised to compete with Amazon’s flagship Alexa product? We are still waiting for Samsung to announce it because it has not announced it yet.
In the words of the president of Samsung’s mobile division (DJ Koh), it is coming soon. But that was actually said 2 months ago at the Samsung Note 8 launch event.
We have to remind Samsung’s speaker with Bixby 2.0 here that, it would be going up against so many rivals, including the fresh Amazon Echo speaker, Apple Homepod and Google Home Mini whenever it comes out.
We are hoping it will come out soon because we actually want to see how well it can compete with the fresh Amazon Echo speakers, Apple Homepod and Google Home Mini.
