Earlier last week images and partial specs for the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active were revealed and now another leak seems to have bridged all the gaps.
The most interesting part is that the leak is pointing to a phone that has every bit of high-end standard as the main Samsung Galaxy S8 and even better in some ways.
The leak reveals a 5.8-inch shatter-resistant Super AMOLED screen phone, with 1440 x 2960 resolution and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
The S8 Active also has a Snapdragon 835 chipset, microSD card slot and 4GB, of RAM, 64GB of storage, plus an 8MP front-facing camera and 12MP rear camera. It also runs Android 7 Nougat and Samsung’s Bixby voice assistant.
The above specs are identical to the Galaxy S8’s, but there are some major differences.
According to an earlier report, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active apparently use a 4,000mAh battery (with fast wireless charging), which is better than the Galaxy S8’s 3,000mAh.
The handset built to last
Of course, it is has a different build. Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are IP68 certified water and dust resistant, but Galaxy S8 Active also apparently meets an MIL-STD-810G US military standard, meaning the handset can survive harsher treatment and environment than your average phone, including the very high and low temperatures.
Well, this comes at a cost; while the Samsung Galaxy S8 is sleek and curvy at 148.9 x 68.1 x 8mm and 155g, Samsung Galaxy S8 Active apparently comes with a durable metal design and at 152.1 x 74.9 x 9.9mm and 208g, making it bigger and heavier.
The leak shows the phone (which apparently comes in gold or gray) comes with chunky frame and without curves on the screen.
So, it means the Galaxy S8 Active is not going to be an attractive handset, but if the leaked specs are correct, it should be very tough and very powerful, which is the real deal.
