Key specs of Ehang Ghostdrone 2.0 VR
- 4K, 12-megapixel camera
- 1125 grams

The drone is flew via a companion app, and that is exactly where the headset becomes necessary. You will have to pair the headset to the device, rather than the drone. While you are flying the drone, you need to keep it in sight, so this is a two-man operation.

The VR headset is an excellent inclusion especially if your co-pilot is a kid. Or, in all honesty, you have a drunk adult as your co-pilot. The included headset provides a live feed from the onboard camera of the drone, and you can simply control the camera angle by moving your head. Though I had a little connectivity issue with the video feed, but that was outweighed by the novelty.
With avatar control, you can’t only control the Ehang Ghostdrone 2.0 VR with only touch control, but you can also use your phone’s gyroscopes to fly the drone. The drone is easy to fly, and the amazing thing is that it has automatic return-to-home when its battery runs too low or the drone loses connection.
The drone can fly for about 25 minutes when fully charged. Its battery has a screen that gives you information about charge level plus overall battery health. Additionally, you can buy an extra battery if you like.
The drone’s camera can offer 4K video at 30fps, but you can drop the resolution if you need better frame rate and ratchet up the speed to up to 1080p at 120fps – it will still come in at 12 megapixels. This is not a professional drone, but at least you can use it for personal videos and snaps.
The Ehang Ghostdrone 2.0 VR sells for $699 and has a 12-month warranty. Though the drone looks pricey, but you will love it for the features if offer.
The Bottom Line
While the phone control and VR headset might feel gimmicky, the Ehang Ghostdrone 2.0 VR has hit the drone market entry-level with aplomb but pricey.
It is quite easy to get the Enhang Ghostdrone 2.0 VR in the sky and also easy to get it out of the sky safely. You can simply fly it with your phone and check things out in first-person with the companion VR goggles. Though, it is cheaper than other drones with the 4K camera, is still pricey at $699.00.
