The Nokia 6 blends solid specs, premium design and an affordable price tag into the handset which could put the brand back in mobile map.
Bright, full HD display
Question mark on performance
Nokia has finally returned! The once iconic smartphone brand is now back in business thanks to the Finnish startup HDM that signed ten-year deal to stick the Nokia name on tablets and smartphones, and the Nokia 6 is currently the top on the list of four devices that the company will be rolling out.
The Nokia’s three new Android smartphones were launched at MWC 2017 (while the fourth is the feature phone 3310) and the phone is focusing on premium build, affordable price tags and a simple UI. The earlier indications are quite positive concerning the Nokia 6.
This phone boasts of 5.5-inch Full HD display, 3GB of RAM, Snapdragon 430 chipset, 16MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 32GB of internal storage, a 3,000mAh battery and fingerprint scanner.
Nokia 6 price and release date
The Nokia 6 will sell for $240 which means the phone is in the category of affordable phones in the market. Looking at the Nokia 6 spec and price, you are in for a decent phone.
If you are feeling more exclusive you could go for Nokia 6 Arte Black special edition that has a glossy piano black rear, 64GB of internal storage, 4GB of Ram and a price tag of $315.
There is no real Nokia 6 release date yet but the Twitter handle of the Nokia Mobile has revealed that the phone will be available by the end of June.
Three months wait since the announcement of the phone may be frustrating for those who were eager to back at the beginning of March to get their hand on the phone.
The fear is that it may be late and consumers may have moved on before the phone is finally out.
Nokia 6 design and display
The crafting of Nokia 6 from a single aluminum block brought about the phone which feels more premium than its budget price tag.
The phone is 154 x 75.8 x 7.85mm dimension and its weight make it a sizable presence in the hand and easy to use.
This phone is not comfortable on the palms like the rounded edges such as the Nokia 5 and 3. You will get the standard Nokia 6 in 4 colors (copper, tempered blue, matte black and silver) and there is the glossy Arte Black special edition also.
The volume and power/lock keys are easy to hit on the right side of the phone and the 3.5mm headphone jack is included up top. The microUSB port resides close to the single internal speaker on the base of this handset.
There is also a fingerprint scanner on the front of the Nokia 6 and it is flanked by capacitive-touch back and multi-tasking keys.
The large 5.5-inch display is clear and bright, which is more than good for the phone in the Nokia 6 category. The screen means the video playback and gaming should really look great on the phone because there is plenty of space for on-screen controls.
Nokia 6 interface and performance
The Nokia 6 runs Android 7 Nougat and there is no pre-installed bloatware or clunky overlay. The Android O will be available for the phone when Google eventually roll it out.The stock Android interface makes it easy to navigate Nokia 6.
If the space of 32GB in this phone is not enough, there is a microSD that support cards up to 128GB. There is also a Snapgragon 430 processor along with 3GB Ram or 4GB in the Arte Black edition, which offered more than enough power for camera and general usage.
Nokia 6 battery and camera
The Nokia 6 is equipped with non-removable 3,000mAh battery and it should be enough at full charge to see out the day. But we are not sure until we put the phone through in-depth review process.
It is also well equipped with 16MP camera which protrudes from the rear phone and presents HDR and dual –tone flash.
On the front, there is an 8MP for selfie snapper.
Nokia 6 is affordable smartphone and really good. It’s got a great design and decent spec to make it a good phone. We are only not sure for now about the chipset and how the phone will cope under heavy-lifting. But there is every indication that the phone will make a great buy.
